Oct. 14th - 20th

Upper Provo River
Some large browns are being caught just upstream from Jordanelle Reservoir. These are lake run fish making their spawning trek.  Streamers in black, olive, and yellow have produced fish.  Also try nymphing small leeches, san jaun worms, egg patterns, and stonefly nymphs.

Middle Provo River
The Middle has been fishing great!  Surface action has been good on both caddis and b.w.o. patterns.  Cloudy rainy days have brought a lot of fish up on blue winged olives, while sunny days have been a bit better on caddis.  Try orange Stimulators #14-16 for the big fall caddis and #16 tan Spent Partridge Caddis and Elk Hairs for the smaller caddis.  B.W.O.'s hatch midday with the best patterns being #20 Comparaduns and Blue Ribbon Cripple patterns.  A great rig for covering some water is using the Stimulator as a large bouyant attractor and trailing a bead head nymph such as a Barr's B.W.O. Emerger, Psycho May, or Good 'N Plenty.  Streamers have been great in low light conditions.  Black and Olive have been best.  Spin fishers should try Panther Martins and Brown Trout Rapalas.

Lower Provo River
Fishing's been good using sow bugs trailed with Blue Winged Olive nymphs.  Try using gray or rainbow colored sows in #14-18, and either a Juju Baetis or Micro May pattern in #18-20's.

Strawberry Reservoir
Fishing's excellent! This is the best time of the year to hit the 'Berry, fishing should to be great at least through the end of the month.  Water temps have been in the high 40's to low 50's, making the cutts very aggressive.  Tube jigs have been very good, along with jerk baits and large swim bait patterns.  Try white, sand, and olive tubes. Rainbow and Chub patterns for the jerk and swim baits.  Fly anglers have been doing great using a variety of woolly bugger  and minnow patterns.  Try red and black woolly buggers, pearl crystal buggers, pink crystal killers, and plain black buggers.

Rockport Reservior
Many good sized rainbows being caught from shore with PowerBait and worms.  Trolling with needlefish, flat fish, and pop gear and a worm has also worked.  The fish are shallow so try longline trolling with monofillament.

Willard Bay
Fishing for Wipers has been a little sporadic but when you run into a school it's been fast and furious.  Try Pearl and chartreuse colored jigs, shad colored crankbaits and jerkbaits.  Fly anglers should try white Zonkers, chartreuse and white Clouser Minnows, and white woolly buggers.
