July 10th, 2013 Fishing Report

Middle Provo
The middle has been consistently fishing well. The green drakes are still around and coming off around noon. P.M.D.'s are also coming, starting earlier around 9 A.M. If you stick around until evening time look for caddis coming off.
Lower Provo
The P.M.D.'s are out and fishing well, plan on the hatch happening around 9 o' clock to midday. The fish will rise to dries but nymph fishing will still produce a good amount of fish, try a Barr's P.M.D. emerger or split case P.M.D. The evening caddis are starting to show up.
Weber River
the flows are up, and fishing has been decent. Sow bugs, san juan worms, or a hares ear nymph are all good fly options at this time. Look for P.M.D.'s earlier on in the day, and caddis in the evening time. The dry fly action has not been as good as the Provo but it is still fishing well.
Green River
The cicada's are starting to wind down, but the yellow sallies are beginning to come on. The caddis have been hatching around the evening and the fish are keying in on them. Terrestrial fishing could be decent try hoppers, ants, and beetles near the banks.
Strawberry Reservoir
The fish out suspended over around 35 to 40 feet of water. Trolling with frog colored flat fish, or rainbow Lucky Craft/ Rapala lures. If you're fishing from the shore try garlic scented powerbait, or a black brown or white streamer. We have been getting reports that the Kokanee have been hitting on pink jakes spin-a-lures. The Crawdads are in the shallows as well, try a raw chicken leg in a Crawdad trap or just tie it to a string and use nets.
Jordanelle
The top water bite has been on, and the bass are out in 15 to 20 feet of water for bass. Drop shot and split shot rigs are working well during the day, try tubes and grubs in watermelon, or baby bass colors.
Utah Lake
We have been getting good reports from people fishing for the catfish. Cat-fishing tends to be most productive in the evening to night time hours. The smellier the bait the better for catfish.

Deer Creek Reservoir
The smaller bass have been spotted in the shallows, while the larger bass are out deeper. If you are looking to get into trout you will find them in about 20 to 30 feet of water. For the trout try trolling with pop gear and a worm, or a frog colored flat fish. If you want to catch the bass, try drop shotting a grub, throwing a Yamasenko, or a crankbait.
Uinta Lakes
The Uinta Lakes are a great place to go if you want to try to escape the heat. Fishing is very good, the fish are active as usual. Whether you are fishing with a spinning rod or a fly rod, a fly with a bubble will produce a good amount of fish. A red Krystal Killer or a prince nymph underneath the surface will work or if you want to fish on the surface try throwing an ant or beetle pattern, Parachute Adams, Mosquito, or Renegade. A gold Jakes Spin-A-lure with red dots is deadly throughout the high mountain lakes. You could also try some good old powerbait.
