• Upper Provo River
Water in the river has been coming up steadily over the last few days with the increased temps and rain. Fishing has been good with both streamers and larger brighter nymph patterns. Some very nice fish have been caught recently just above the reservoir. Runoff will probably make the river nearly unfishable very soon.
• Middle Provo River
Flows have been steady at just below 600cfs for some time now. Fishing's a little tough with the flows as high as they are, but if you adjust your tactics you can do pretty well. Fishing the edges with b.w.o. nymphs has been the most productive technique. #10-14 Stonefly nymphs and San Juan have been good as attractors ahead of the b.w.o. nymphs. Weighted streamers in black and olive work very well jigged along the banks as well.
• Lower Provo River
High flows are keeping the crowds down, but fishing along the softer slower shorelines is good. Patterns have primarily been baetis nymphs in #18-20 and sow bugs in #14-18. Don't ignore San Juan Worms in red and brown in the deeper runs. Good hatches of Blue Wings have still been coming off and fish have been surfacing in slower water.
• Strawberry Reservoir
This is the week! Ice is just starting to come off! As of Monday evening, there is some open water in the shallows along Hwy. 40. Most of this water isn't real fishable due to its shallow depth. It should get better later in the week as some of the deeper shorelines start to open up with warmer weather. The weekend could be prime! Get ready with some white and craw colored tube jigs; Brown, Black, and Olive Leech patterns; White Crystal Buggers and Zonkers; Rainbow and Chub colored Rapalas and Jerk Baits. Please give us a call for updates on the ice conditions.
• Jordanelle
Trout and a few smallmouth are being caught. Try trolling Olive Woolly Buggers, White Zonkers, Rapalas, and Needlefish. Smallmouth should be picking up as the water warms and the spawn comes on.
• Scofield
The ice is almost completely off, and should be by the end of the week. Lots of smaller fish have been being caught off the shore stripping Buggers and Leeches. Also, try tubes and Jake's Spin-a-Lures. PowerBait and salmon eggs should also be very good.
